Seasonal service at West Berkshire Crematorium

West Berkshire Crematorium is inviting local people to submit digital photos of their loved ones to be included in a slideshow to be shown at its annual Christmas Carol and Memorial Service.

The popular event is taking place on Saturday 7 December at 1pm, and there is an open invitation for anyone to attend.

The festive gathering provides a valuable opportunity for families and friends to come together and remember their loved ones in the run up to Christmas, a time when people can particularly feel their losses.

The service will include a mixture of readings and popular Christmas Carols. Refreshments will be available.

It is free to attend and no advance booking is required.

Anyone who would like a photo of a loved one to be included in the memorial slideshow during the service should email it to WestBerkshire@westerleighgroup.co.uk before Friday 30 November, using the heading ‘Christmas Service Photo Slideshow’.

Visitors to the seasonal service will also be able to write Christmas Cards to those they have lost and place them in the crematorium’s Letter to Loved Ones memorial post box.

West Berkshire Crematorium is part of Westerleigh Group one of the UK’s largest independent owners and operators of cemeteries and crematoria, with 40 sites in England, Scotland, and Wales, all set within beautifully landscaped gardens of remembrance which provide peaceful places for people to visit and reflect.

Manager Loraine Beckinsale said: “Our annual Christmas Carol and Memorial Service is a lovely and meaningful way to bring people together to reflect on and honour their loved ones during the festive season.

“Visitors to the event will be able to place Christmas cards in our Letters to Loved Ones memorial post box.

“We hope that everyone who joins us will find comfort in being able to pay tribute to their loved one during the service whilst being in the company of other people who are in a similar situation.

“Our Christmas service is open for anyone and everyone who lives in, works in or is visiting the communities surrounding our crematorium in the run-up to Christmas. Everyone is welcome.

“Those who are unable to attend on the night but wish to view the service as a live webcast can do so through Westerleigh Group’s multimedia partner Obitus.

“Just visit https://christmas.obitus.com and enter the username ‘westberkshire’ and password ‘sleigh’.

“For those unable to watch it live, or those who do attend but who would like to see it again, the service will be available to view online as a ‘watch again’ option, using the same details above, from Monday 9 December for 28 days, so nobody has to miss out.”
